The announcement of successful study results for a vaccine candidate by Pfizer and BioNTech alone has significantly advanced the valuation of listed operators of fitness facilities. On average, the four major providers selected - Planet Fitness (US), Basic-Fit (NL), The Gym Group (UK) and SATS (NO) - increased their value on 9 November by 23.9% compared to the previous day.
The biggest jump was achieved by the English The Gym Group. Despite the fact that most of the facilities are currently closed due to the lockdown in the UK, the company's value increased by 38.5% on that day; in terms of the entire trading week, the growth was even 43.2%. In total, the four companies gained around EUR 1.2 billion in market capitalization this week.
