Happy Fit becomes McFIT

The German fitness provider McFIT acquires its Italian counterpart Happy Fit. The discount provider takes over all 14 Happy Fit branches in Northern Italy including all 80 employees. With more than 1.2 million members McFit is the leading operator in the European fitness industry and will operate a total of 219 gyms after the merger.

By the end 2014 the corporate design of all current Happy Fit clubs should be changed into McFIT. Happy Fit customers can also exercise in all McFit systems now. With the acquisition, McFIT has taken another important step in its expansion strategy in Europe. The first two Italian clubs had already opened in Verona and Bari and further clubs are planned until the end of this year. In 2015, at least five clubs, amongst others in Milan and Rome, will follow to strengthen the position on the Italian market.

In 2011 Happy Fit was founded by Vito Scavo with the first club in Treviso. Since then 13 other facilities have been added. As part of the merger Scavo becomes COO at McFIT. "I am very proud to be part of a global player like McFIT now. McFIT has become Europe's leading fitness chain through new approaches and innovative ideas and has, for that reason, always been my role model. The more I am happy now to be a part of this company and have an active role as COO in the future entrepreneurial orientation, "comments Vito Scavo.
