Gold‘s Gym expansion continues

Gold’s Gym continues its growth strategy with the acquisition of The Rush Fitness Complex. The international health and fitness operator takes over all twenty-three locations from its competitor.

The international health and fitness club operator Gold's Gym announced today that it has signed a new deal to acquire The Rush Fitness Complex, a regional gym chain with 23 clubs in the southeast of the USA. The deal, which is officially slated to close in the next month, marks the entry of Gold's Gym into the local markets in the region. The clubs acquired from The Rush Fitness Complex will be rebranded under the Gold's Gym name, which is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

Altogether, the network of the franchise fitness chain Gold's Gym contains more than 700 locations in 38 states and 28 countries. The acquisition increases the number of its corporate-owned locations to 146 (approximately 20 percent) from 104 gyms in July 2013 and 81 gyms in July 2012.

"Following steady growth this last quarter, which included the acquisition of Aspen Athletic Clubs, we are excited to kick off the second half of the year with this announcement," said Gold's Gym President Aaron Watkins. "There were obvious synergies between The Rush Fitness Complex offerings and Gold's Gym offerings, which is why this deal was attractive to us."
